French President Macron: Arresting TG founder is not a political decision
French President Emmanuel Macron responded to the arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov on his personal X account tonight.
It stated that this case is not based on political motives, and that France values freedom of speech and communication, innovation and entrepreneurship more than ever before. In a rule of law country, whether on social media or in real life, freedom is exercised within the framework of legal provisions to protect citizens and respect their basic rights. Maintaining the law is the responsibility of a completely independent judicial institution. The arrest of the founder of Telegram in France is part of an ongoing judicial investigation and should be decided by a judge.
