So today I want to talk about parts of the body

所以今天我想谈谈身体部位

Because I noticed that with my students

因为我注意到我的学生

And in their textbooks

在他们的教科书里

It always teaches them, you know, the general terms

它总是教他们，你知道，一般的单词

Arms, legs, shoulders

手臂、腿、肩膀

Head,shoulders, knees, and toes

头、肩膀、膝盖和脚趾

But it doesn't really go into detail about parts of the body

但没有深入到其它详细的身体部位

There's so many different words that we have

我们有很多不同的词

So I will break this video down into 4 separate parts

所以我将把这段视频分成4个部分

The torso, head, arms and legs

躯干、头、胳膊和腿

So let's start off explaining parts of the head

所以让我们开始解释头部的部分

So we'll go from top to bottom

所以我们要自上而下讲解

So here we have hair

所以我们有头发

And the skin underneath your hair is called your scalp

你头发下面的皮肤叫做头皮

And with their hair

You'll notice right here we have the hairline

Now for most people, this is usually a straight line

A nice, straight hairline

But for some people, like me, it kind of makes a V shape

And when it makes a V shape

That can be called a widows peak

With my father, his widows peak goes really far back

So when I get older I'm probably going to have that, too

Some people also have something called a cowlick

Which is when one lock of hair will probably always stick down

So now let's move over to the ears

Most of my students know ears

But nobody every says earlobe

So now we can talk about the eyes

In case you don't know

These are called glasses

So for eyes

The white part is called the sclera

We always just say the whites of the eyes

Next we have the iris

The iris is the colored ring inside of your eye

For Chinese people, the iris is always brown

But the iris can also be gray, green, blue, or hazel

You can see mine right now are rather gray

But when I was younger

My eyes were actually very very blue

And then the black circle right in the middle of your eye

Is called the pupil

Now the pupil can get bigger or smaller

Depending on how much light it is exposed to

Now right here we have eyelids

And on those, we have eyelashes

Up here, eyebrows

So now we can talk about the nose

So with the nose, we have two nostrils

One nostril, two nostrils

On your nose, you have the bridge

Now the bridge is usually a slightly raised bump

Which helps you keep your glasses on

Unfortunately, because of my mother's genetics

I don't really have a bridge

So I'm always pushing up my glasses

Which I'm sure that some of you have noticed in my videos

Now down to the mouth

We have lips

And inside, teeth

That you get when you grow older

A lot of people will get those ones removed

Because they grow improperly

My wife actually just had one of them removed

And then below the mouth you have the chin

And for some people, like me

I'm kind of fat

They have a double chin

And in case some of you don't know

This is called a beard

And now we move down to the here

The neck

You can say neck or throat

你可以说脖子或喉咙

But the throat is usually just the front part

While neck is the entirety of it

Now we can move onto the arms

现在我们可以聊手臂上了

Let's start back here on our shoulder

我们从肩上开始

And the bone back here is the shoulder blade

And up here we have the upper arm

Which goes down into the elbow

Down here, forearm

A fun fact about the forearm

Is that it is the same size as your shoe size

So as you can see

I have a size 48 shoe

我有一双48号的鞋

My forearm is kind of long

The very end of the forearm is the wrist

And from there, you move onto your hand

The inside part is your palm

And then fingers

But a lot of my students don't actually know

The names of each individual finger

So we have thumb

Pointer

Middle

Ring

Pinky

So now we can move onto the abdomen

The abdomen is everything within this area

Except your arms and legs

Those are called appendages

这些叫做四肢

So with your abdomen

It's divided into two halves

它分成两半

The upper half is called your chest

上半部分叫做你的胸部

From your neck down to here

And right here

This is called the stomach

Or the belly

Or a really childish thing is to call it tummy

With here, we usually say belly or stomach

But stomach is also the name of the organ that digests the food

So below the abdomen, we can move into the legs and the lower body

So right here

Right under your abdomen

This is your waist

Or your pelvis

And on the sides of your pelvis

Or the sides of your waist

These are your hips

So the top part of your leg is your thigh

And right below your thigh

You have your knee

Down here on your lower leg

This is your calf

One calf, or if there's two, then calves

Then below your calf, this area is your ankle

Down here, this ball right at the back of your foot

Is your heel

And the bottom of your foot is your sole

Right here is called your arch

Because it's shaped like an arch

Down here's your toes

So we have the big toe and the pinky toe

These three
